Specialized events and training services

The Puglia Region promoted, within the 2007-2013 ROP, a program called Environmental and Cultural Systems (SAC). The Sturzo Institute has been commissioned by the Municipality of Bitonto, leader of the grouping of the municipalities involved, to manage, in a public-private relationship, services that do not fall within the sphere of ordinary activities of libraries and other cultural structures. The project is articulated in a wide educational and didactic offer addressed to a wide public. Training courses, educational activities with schools, seminars, film festivals, guided tours, exhibitions, with extended opening hours, sometimes even on public holidays, access to book funds without any restrictions, socialization spaces hinged on the traditional functions of libraries and of the picture galleries, undoubtedly constitute a strengthening of the cultural offer. The project, started in 2015, has a duration of three years.

The structures involved are the Rogadeo library in Bitonto, the Marinelli Giovene library in Terlizzi, the Pinacoteca de Napoli in Terlizzi, which are increasingly playing a role that assimilates them to the most advanced European experiences in this sector.

The synthesis of the partnership with the Municipality of Bitonto was the participation in the elaboration of the application dossier to the Italian Capital of Culture 2020. The entrance of the Municipality of Bitonto among the ten finalist cities represented for the Sturzo Institute a strengthening of the partnership , the acquisition of skills in this specific area of ​​cultural planning as well as an interesting development for activities in the Apulia region.
