Performance “L’Appello ai Liberi e Forti” by Luigi Sturzo

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Auditorium of the Central National Library of Rome, on Thursday 19 December at 18:00, Luigi Sturzo’s L’Appello ai Liberi e Forti will be held, which is part of the initiatives promoted for the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Italian Popular Party.

The text of the monologue was edited and adapted by Francesco Failla, Director of the Library and the Historical Archive of the Diocese of Caltagirone; to play Don Luigi Sturzo is the actor from Syracuse Sebastiano Lo Monaco; the director is Salvo Bitonti, director of the Albertina Academy of Turin and the original music was composed by Dario Arcidiacono, a Syracusan who had long since moved to Rome.

The general organization of the representation is by Salvatore AricΓ² of the Centro Internazionale Studi Sturzo.

On the stage are placed the original desk, chair, stick, coat rack, bust, framework and typewriter that furnished the two rooms at the Canossian Convent in Rome where Don Sturzo lived from 1946 to his death in 1959, kept at the Institute Luigi Sturzo and for the occasion lent to the National Central Library of Rome.
